COMPASSION IN WORLD FARMING: UK’S ANIMALS NO LONGER RECOGNISED AS SENTIENT BEINGS – British Goat Society

As BGS members may already be aware, as part of the EU law repeal process, MPs recently narrowly voted to scrap the EU law recognising that animals can think, feel, and suffer pain. Scrapping this principle could clear the way for weaker protections in animal welfare including in testing labs, farming, slaughter and in relation to animal cruelty generally.

But this clearly isn’t the same as the existing legal protection, written down & enshrined in law and so we need to keep the pressure up!
Members may wish to contact their local MP in relation to this.
