A photo diary from my Singapore Trip
Somewhere in September, I realized I have saved enough money to plan a trip to Singapore and so my ordeal started. I put together all the things required for my Singapore trip. The visa came through pretty easily, found cheap tickets on Air Asia (which I regretted later) and applied leaves in my office. Booked hotel only at the last minute because Singapore is freakishly expensive in terms of hotels/ hostels. Before I knew it I was on my Air Asia flight from New Delhi via Kuala Lumpur to Singapore – the most sought destination in Asia.
This post is not an itinerary but a reflection of my love for Singapore. I found Singapore too urban for my taste but I fell in love with its urban planning. The people of Singapore will go to great lengths to make you feel welcomed. I will be sharing some of my most favorite pictures from my Singapore trip.
Singapore Trip – Most Insta-Worthy Places
The Houses
My first takeaway from Singapore’s urban planning was its high rise residential buildings with great space management. Enough space for a park, trees, and walking in the building complex, that’s a place I’d want to settle in 😉
Marina Bay Sands
I landed in Singapore somewhere in noon, rested a bit and head out to enjoy the evening on the Marina Bay Sands. I took the MRT and the moment I stepped out I was spellbound from the grandeur of Marina Bay Sands Hotel right above my head.
Fascinated by the Marina Bay Sands mall, I finally reached the Bayfront facing the Singapore river and the Merlion. Setting up my camera, I took a few pictures of the beautiful evening slipping by before crowds kicked in for the lights & sounds show. I got a few decent pictures of mine too 🙂
The last sliver of light with a few clouds in the sky, Singapore’s skyline is a delight to stare upon.
When the skyscrapers are lit up, they give a whole new character to the Bayfront. From the locals jogging to the tourists lined up for the show and photographers with their camera setups, the Bayfront is a delight to spend time in.
Marina Bay Sands Hotel
The Marina Bay Sands Hotel looks gorgeous from below and the view from above is also equally exciting.
Gardens by the Bay
Buddha Tooth Relic Temple
The Buddha Tooth Relic temple will engross you in the charming architecture and pretty interiors. Although dressing up with shoulders and knees covered is a big part of visiting the temple. They do offer sarongs if you wear something like I was wearing 😬
China Town
China Town of Singapore needs no introduction. The vivid buildings in an almost similar Chinese structure with shops set up on the ground level cannot be missed. You can reach China Town via a direct MRT which drops you right at the entry of China Town.
Universal Studios Singapore
Universal Studios Singapore will tickle your senses and make you a child once again. The rides Hollywood section, New York City, Ancient Egypt, The Lost World will transport to a whole new world. Food is overpriced here but you can some delicious savories here.
Did I mention New York City was my favorite part of USS?
Little India
If you’re from India like me, you won’t find Little India much appealing as it is quite similar to what we have back home. Although, if you’re craving Indian food, then Little India is where you should go.
Singapore Botanical Gardens
I have said it enough times on my Instagram stories that I feel utterly and madly in love with orchids after visiting the Orchids Gardens in Singapore’s Botanical Garden. The vast varieties I saw there awed me completely.
Arab Street
One of my favorite parts of Singapore was the Arab Street. It was a haven for foodies and street art lovers.
